Dr. Haecheon Kim(김해천)
Dr. Haecheon Kim is a Research Professor in ATSLA. He received the B.S. degree in Metallurgical Engineering from Seoul National University (SNU) in 1982 and the M.S. degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) in 1984. He received his Ph.D. in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) in 1992. He worked on magnetic materials and thin film transistors at LG Electronics from 1984 to 1988. Since 1993, he has been working on the GaAs/GaN-based devices, MMICs, and their system applications at Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI). He was a visiting scholar at IEMN in Lille, France working on the graphene growth from 2011 to 2012. He joined ATSLA in 2022, where he is working on micro-scale cooling systems for high power semiconductor devices.

Seungjae Lee (이승재)
SeungJae Lee received his B.S. in Automotive Engineering from Kyung-pook National University, in 2023. His research focuses on Muti-phase heat and mass transfer with openFOAM CFD software.

Youngseob Lee (이영섭)
Youngseob Lee received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Chung-Ang University, in 2024. His research focuses on two-phase enhanced heat transfer including pool/flow/condensation. He is also interested in machine learning.

Seonu Bae (배선우)
Seonu Bae received his B.S in Mechanical Engineering from Chung-Ang University, in 2024. His research focuses on cryogenic boiling process. He is also interested in motor cooling.

Sangmin Lee(이상민)
Sangmin Lee is received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Hanyang University, ERICA, in 2024. His research focuses on thermal management of electronics. He is also interested in multi-phase heat and mass transfer.

Soeun Lee is currently a master’s student at the ATSLA. She is conducting research on phase change processes, employing computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to develop advanced simulation approaches.

Suhan Kim (김수한)
Suhan Kim is currently pursuing an integrated Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering at Chung-Ang University. His research focuses on bubble dynamics and pool boiling phenomena for enhanced boiling heat transfer.

Joonhyeok, Byoun (변준혁)
Joonhyeok Byoun is currently enrolled in a master’s program in Mechanical Engineering at Chung-Ang University. His research interests include device-level co-designed embedded cooling for GaN-on-SiC RF amplifiers.

Juhoo Yang (양주호)

Yuseok Jang (장유석)
Yuseok Jang is an undergraduate student majoring in Mechanical Engineering at Chung-Ang University, and a prospective graduate student starting in Spring 2027. His research focuses on heat transfer and thermal management using machine learning and artificial intelligence, particularly Physics-Informed Neural Networks (PINN).

Dr. Charmala Suresh (차말라수레쉬)
Dr Charmala Suresh worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Chung-Ang University, School of Mechanical Engineering (2025). His research mainly focused on application of phase change materials in thermal energy storage systems, experimental heat transfer, energy efficient buildings and thermal management systems. He had worked as a Post Doctoral Fellow in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, India (2022), later, Korea Maritime and Ocean University, Busan, (2023 to 2024) and School of Mechanical Engineering, Ajou University, Suwon, Republic of Korea (2024-2025). He obtained his Ph.D. from Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, India (2021) where he worked on the field of thermal energy storage in combined sensible-latent thermal storage.

Dr. Alvira Ayoub
Dr. Alvira Ayoub received her Ph.D. in Organic and Nanoengineering from Hanyang University, South Korea, in 2016. After receiving her Ph.D., she was selected under the Korean Research Fellowship (KRF) program and worked as a Post-Doctoral Researcher at Hanyang University from 2017 to 2019. She also served as a researcher at Sungkyunkwan University (January-August 2020) and Sookmyung Women’s University (September 2020-August 2021). She joined ATSLA as a research professor in 2021 and worked on the synthesis of core-shell heterostructures of carbon nanotubes (CNT), printable carbon composites, and transition metal chalcogenides. She has developed a variety of electrocatalysts for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSC), and textile-structured solar cells (TSSC).

Dr. Deepak Selvakumar Ramachandran
He received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Indore in 2018. After his Ph.D., he worked as a Research Associate and Assistant Professor at the Harbin Institute of Technology, China, through the International Talent Introduction Fellowship (March 2019 – February 2021). Later, he worked as a researcher at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras through the Institute Post-Doctoral Fellowship (February – July 2021). He joined ATSLA as a research professor in 2021 and has worked on numerical modeling of complex fluid dynamics and heat transfer problems such as electrohydrodynamics, phase change, and particle-fluid interaction, among others.
Current position : Research scientist position at Khalifa University, UAE.

Hoon Choi (최훈)
Hoon Choi received a B.S. degree in Mechanical System Engineering from Jeonbuk National University in 2024 and an M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Chung-Ang University in 2026. His master’s degree research focused on capillary-assisted thin-film evaporative cooling for large-area AI chiplets.

Seokwon Jeong (정석원)
Seokwon Jeong received B.S. and M.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Chung-Ang University in 2024 and 2026, respectively. His research interests included thermal–hydraulic optimization of liquid cooling modules for electric vehicle inverter cooling through AI-based metamodeling and evolutionary algorithms.

Jeonghwan Park (박정환)
Jeonghwan Park received B.S. and M.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Chung-Ang University in 2024 and 2026. His master’s research interests include enhanced immersion cooling of AI processor chips through laser surface treatment and electromagnetic–thermal co-simulation for motor cooling.

Dr. Haeun Lee (이하은)
Haeun Lee received her B.S. (2020) and Ph.D. (2025) in Mechanical Engineering from Chung-Ang University. Her research focuses on machine learning and artificial intelligence, particularly in applications related to heat transfer, thermal design, and thermal management.

Dr. Yunseo Kim(김윤서)
Yunseo Kim earned her B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Chung-Ang University in 2019. Her research focuses on thermal-fluid modeling and experimental validation for device thermal management. Currently, she is conducting research on surface modification for enhanced phase change on Diamond UWBG devices, optimization of single-phase manifold microchannels for EV inverter cooling, and modeling liquid vapor phase separation for immersion cooling in data centers.

Junrae Park (박준래)
Junrae Park received his B.S. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Chung-Ang University in 2023 and 2025. His research focused on thermal management for GaN HEMT device for RF applications. He was also interested in additively manufactured microcooler for datacenters.

Dr. Minsoo Kang (강민수)
Minsoo Kang received his M.S. and Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering from Chung-Ang University, in 2020 and 2025. His research focused on pool boiling and wicking evaporation heat transfer of carbon-patterned surface using polyimide film for flexible electronics. Also he focused on predicting the correlation of manifold micro-channel using CFD and machine learning.
Current position: Postdoc researcher @ ETRI (한국전자통신연구원)

Sehyeon Cho(조세현)
Sehyeon Cho received his B.S. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Chung-Ang University in 2021 and 2024, respectively. His research focused on phase change simulation with OpenFOAM and enhanced jet impinging cooling for power electronics.

Kiwan Kim (김기완)
Kiwan Kim received his B.S. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Chung-Ang University in 2022 and 2024, respectively. His research focused on machine learning and thermal-hydraulic performance using a manifold micro gap coated with porous copper. He also investigated enhanced boiling performance with liquid-vapor separation.

Euibeen Jung (정의빈)
Euibeen Jung received his B.S. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Chung-Ang University in 2022 and 2024, respectively. His research focused on laser-induced graphene for thermal management in lithium-ion batteries and boiling-induced thermal degradation.

Gyohoon Geum (금교훈)
Gyohoon Geum received his B.S. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Chung-Ang University in 2022 and 2024, respectively. His research focused on a nozzle jet impinging channel for power electronics and a heat pipe heat exchanger for waste heat energy recovery.

Dr. Daeyoung Kong (공대영)
Daeyoung Kong received M.S. and Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering from Chung-Ang University, South Korea in 2020 and 2023, respectively. Since 2023, he’s working consistently in ATSLA group as a postdoctoral scholar. His specialized studies focus on the development of advanced micro-fluidic coolers for the application of extremely high heat flux electronics.

Geonhee Lee (이건희)
Gunhee Lee received his B.S. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Chung-Ang University, in 2020 and 2022, respectively. His research focused on predicting heat transfer performance using machine learning modeling.

Hokyu Choi (최호규)
Hokyu Choi received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Chung-Ang University, in 2021. His research focuses on manifold micro-channel cooling using CFD software and machine learning. He was also interested in electro-spray cooling.

Eunho Cho (조은호)
Eunho Cho received B.S.(2019) and M.S.(2021) in Mechanical Engineering at Chung-Ang University, Seoul. His research topic was thermal modeling of single and two phase heat transfer.
